The Lithuanian National Road Carriers' Association Linava was established by 84 carriers at their Congress on October 4, 1991. Since May 23, 1992, the Association LINAVA has been an active member of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and represents Lithuanian carriers' in two Councils: Passenger Transport Council and Goods Transport Council.

The main tasks of the Association are:

  • to defend the rights of the members of the Association and to represent their interests in legislative and governmental bodies;
  • to promote development of national road transport and business of related services, and to create new working places in the country;
  • to coordinate the activities of businessmen forming their general strategy of development and international economic cooperation, and to represent them in national and international institutions related to the activities of the road transport;
  • to promote professional training and improvement of professional skills of the carriers in co-operation with state institutions;
  • to make proposals to the Government of Lithuanian Republic and to other state institutions on the development of transport business;
  • to provide consultations and services about all transport operations, and to provide information about the activities of Lithuanian carriers to foreign transport entrepreneurs;
  • to participate in exhibitions, conferences and other events related to the activity of the Association.

Were established in the biggest cities of Lithuania: Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Alytus.
